Getting The Most Out Of Your Source CBD Products

In recent years CBD has become the new addition to pain relief and stress relief plans, and with its all-natural healing properties, it is not difficult to see why this is the case. At Source Ortho, we also are strong advocates of the studies behind the healing and stress-relieving effects of CBD and because of this, we also have an exclusive store dedicated to our CBD products.

Obviously, because it is a newer phenomenon, many people are still left with questions on the health benefits of CBD and whether or not it is safe for human consumption. In a previous blog post (which you can find here) we briefly discussed the benefits behind CBD, but we will also answer some more of those questions here as well.

CBD (cannabidiol) is currently legal in 46 U.S. states, it is safe to consume and it is effective for both pain and stress relief. CBD is a derivative product from the hemp plant, which while it is a strain of Cannabis Sativa, it contains minimal to no THC, making in non-psychoactive but effective in pain management. CBD has many health benefits, which may include pain relief, reduction of inflammation, reduction of anxiety and depression, and may improve brain and heart health.

There are many different forms that CBD can take, and each one possesses a different bioavailability; how much of the CBD is actually absorbed into the bloodstream after ingesting it. The bioavailability of the product directly influences the effects of the CBD that you feel, and obviously the higher bioavailability, the more benefits you will receive from your CBD products.

We source all of our CBD products from Folium Biosciences (based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado) where they use a patent-pending formula with Nano-emulsions that used optimized composition and use a unique process to manufacture. The average size of Folium Biosciences’ hemp oil droplet in this form is 25 nanometers, compared with 100-5000 nanometers that are usually obtained by using the industry-standard liposomal delivery method. The small size of the Folium Nano-emulsion hemp oil leads to a much larger surface area of the hemp oil droplets leading to much higher absorption in the bloodstream. Due to their thermodynamic stability, Nano-emulsions do not lead to phase separation (oil separating from water), thus enabling the formulation of stable products and a better bioavailability from our products.

As stated above, CBD comes in many different forms including skin care, balms, oils/tinctures, soft gels, and even vape pens. Our SourceCBD Oil brand sells all of the above and because of Folium Biosciences patent-pending Nano-emulsions and regularly updated lab results, you know that the products you are using are of the highest quality. Now without further ado, here is what you need to know about SourceCBD’s products.

CBD SkinCare:

Our favorite words at Source Ortho are “Self-Care” and we believe it is an important part of any and every daily routine. Because of this we highly promote all of our CBD-based skincare products (including face masks, eye serums, face serums, and muscle and joint creams) and you better believe that we are also using these products (my favorite is the face mask, as it leaves my skin glowing and incredibly soft and smooth).

While transdermal methods of using CBD do not have recorded bioavailability, they work miracles in tandem with any skin-care routine. The skin is the largest organ that humans possess and it is covered with cannabinoid (or CB) receptors. These CB receptors, which are also found in bones, muscles, nerves and tissues, are cell-membrane receptors that work to deliver the CBD to different parts of the body through absorption. So while there is not a set value for the bioavailability of topical CBD, it is shown that it works through these receptors, leaving your skin glowing and healthy.

CBD Balm:

CBD balms also fall under the category of transdermal CBD, making it similar to our other skin-care products in the sense that there are no exact numbers on the bioavailability of the products. However, the main difference that separates the two is the fact that our balms contain more CBD at 500mg-1000mg per container as opposed to the skincare lines which contain 150mg-200mg per container. Because of this, the balms are significantly stronger than the skincare products and more effective for deep-penetrating pain relief from muscle soreness or achy joints.

The CBD balms are perfect for anyone looking for a more natural alternative to other topicals that relieve discomfort and aches. The balms also work great for extremely dry and cracked skin to offer deep-tissue moisture that is more than just surface level.

CBD Soft Gels:

Soft gels are a great addition to any daily routine; they are a hassle and worry-free product and you can supplement them in with your other daily vitamins and minerals. The bioavailability of the soft gels range from 10% and can go up to about 20% of its overall bioavailability. They are absorbed quickly through the stomach and from there you can feel the effects about 15 minutes after ingestion. It differs from the transdermal products in that the transdermal product target more specific areas of the body, while the CBD in the soft gels will transfer throughout your entire body for more of overall body health and wellness.

The great thing about our brand is there are a few options available for your soft gels. We have soft gels that contain just the CBD, which may be beneficial for pain relief, stress relief, and anxiety, but we also have CBD soft gels with melatonin (to aid in falling asleep and staying asleep) as well as soft gels containing curcumin (an anti-inflammatory supplement that is also proven to aid in brain health and prevent heart disease and some cancers) so that you get the most out of your personal CBD experience.

CBD Oils:

Sublingual CBD products (products that are dissolved under the tongue) are a more popular option for CBD lovers as they are pleasant tasting and works quickly as it works with the capillaries located under your tongue. The bioavailability of sublingual CBD products is about 12% and up to 35%, making it potent and effective for all of the benefits that CBD offers. It is also a more natural approach to taking CBD oil, and at Source Ortho our CBD oils come in a variety of flavors, so you can enjoy the taste while it aides in your stress relief.

The most effective way to get the most out of your CBD oil is to use the dropper to place the CBD oil just under your tongue. The capillaries in this area will absorb the CBD in the bloodstream quicker, so hold the oil under your tongue for about a minute or two. After a few moments, you can swallow the excess CBD oil. You should begin feeling the effects anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes.

CBD Vape:

The final CBD product we will discuss is CBD vapes. Intranasal CBD, or CBD you can inhale, has the most bioavailability with 34% to 56% bioavailability, making it the highest out of all CBD products. It also begins working the quickest at about 10 minutes from the time it was inhaled due to the fact that it goes directly to the bloodstream. While vaping circumvents this by heating cannabis up to just below the point of combustion, the effects of vaping on the body, lungs and bloodstream are still unknown, so it may not be the best choice and if you do choose to use, you should do so at your own discretion.

Serving Suggestions:

Each form of CBD not only has varying bioavailability, but they also possess differing amounts of CBD per product. The topicals will possess less, at about 100mg to 250mg per container, the balms range from 500mg to 1000mg per container, the soft gels range from 300mg to 750mg, the oils range from 250mg to 1500mg, and the vapes contain 500mg per container. All dosages can be adjusted to your needs and it is also safest to start out lower and gradually work your way up to a higher dosage if needed. CBD is non-toxic, so you are unlikely to overdose while using it. Overuse could result in unwanted effects such as being overly-relaxed, which can affect productivity during work or sports. With all supplements, always consult a doctor prior to usage to make sure the product will not interfere with any other medications that you may be taking.
