Aircast AirSport Plus Ankle Brace

The AirSport Plus Ankle Brace has a boa which gave me the impression it would be useful to achieve snug support with this brace for my injured left ankle. Judging from their online picture, it seemed to use the same technology as their French competitor Thuasne but it does not. It does not fit as snug and never achieves true support around the ankle. Further, it is open to the back and on its sides too bulky. Compared with Thuasne, the side padding is at least twice as thick which makes it hard to even fit in a tennis shoe. - The material is not as smooth and comfortable to wear as Thuasne and despite the boa, it does not tighten enough around the ankle. Upon return because of the uncomfortable fit, I had to pay both way shipping plus a restocking fee of 15 percent. The instructions for the return were typed out in RED. Unfriendly tone. Why? I am injured, hurting and trying to heal. I gave this product a serious chance, no need to add insult to injury. - I was prescribed Thuasne for my right ankle in Germany but the left ankle also needed support. Eventually, I managed to find the Hanger Clinic in Houston through the Thuasne sales rep and paid $8 with a prescription from my local Houston orthopedist. So, I wasted around $40 on the inferior product by Source Ortho. What an ordeal.

I really like this brace, it is fairly comfortable and provide more stability then other braces I have used. My only issue is that it is bulky and doesn’t work with all shoes. I do like the ability to tighten with BOA laces. I am considering ordering another one for my right ankle as well.
